BTS stands for "Bulletproof Boys" in Korean means "Bangtan Sonyeondan" 
theyre name mean that they would block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets and protect the values and ideals of today’s adolescents

BTS was created by PD Bang Si Hyuk

2010-2012

  • auditions were held by BigHit for a new boy group in 2010 and 2011
  • the line up went through several changes til it was finalized to Jin, Suga, JHope, Rap Monster (RM), Jimin, V, and Jungkook in 2012
  • 6 months before their debut they started to gain attention through several  social media, as well as song covers on Youtube and SoundCloud

2013

  • the group debuted on June 12, 2013 with their single album 2 Kool 4 Skool, which is the first installment of their "school trilogy" series, and lead single No More Dreams
  • the album peaked at number 5 on the Goan Album Chart  
  • they sold over 105,000 copies of their album\
  • their two singles No More Dreams and We are Bulletproof pt.2 weren't major hits
  • the second part of the school trilogy O! RUL8, 2?, which is an expanded play, was released on September 11, 2013
  • which sold over 120,000 copies and peaked at number 4
  • the supporting singles "N.O" and "Attack on Bangtan" failed to chart high
  • in September they starred in their on variety show called Rookie King Bangtan Channel, which was broadcasted by SBS-MTV
  • they were nominated for Rookie of the Year by SBS-MTV Best of the Best
  • they were nominate for Best Male Artist by Mnet Asian Music Awards
